Sort of surprised to see no rules for morale.

Thought that too in the middle of the introductory scenario. Swatted a squad of 'pods that my son was driving and left one lonely zent'. Felt weird to not role for morale at that point.

At first me too but when you things of the Zentreadi that are willing to kill each other and that the idea was KISS for the game it's less of a surprise.

Oh I agree, makes sense, warrior code/backstabber thing they got going on. But maybe from a UEDF or Malcontent perspective the morale might be applicable.

I could see morale in the other two factions, but not the Zents. They are a warrior race made, and cloned, for battle.

Any morale rules would likely have toppled the game balance especially as it is inappropriate to apply them yo the Zentradi armada.
Crafting a set of rules that fit the balance and where still worth the book keeping would have been difficult if not impossible.

Did we ever see characters in the show freak out in combat? Apart from freaking MinMei.

I don't think any of the factions would need morale checks.
As stated before, Zent's genetically engineered warriors to retreat is worse then death. The UEDF they are fighting for the sake of the human race and their home, they will fight to the last human breath. The Malcontents, their cause is their life, better to die for it then live enslaved to the corruption that is the UEG.

The show depicts retreats and routs (even the Zentraedi).
