I have created 3 new Special Character cards for Robotech RPG Tactics. There is one for each faction with more to follow once I get some more free time. They are as follows: Zentraedi Faction - Geraro Malcontent Faction - Khyron the Destroyer UEDF Faction - Jack Archer Geraro was a character that appeared several times in the show. I wanted to make a card of him to add more strategic play options for the Zentraedi. For Khyron, I wanted to make a unique Malcontent version of him that represents his diminished sanity, yet make him powerful enough to be considered feared among his troops and the UEDF. For the UEDF, Jack Archer is the main character from the Robotech: Battlecry Video game that game out several years ago. The character's background was fairly well developed, the story in the game was good, and I thought people would who remember that game would enjoy using him as a playable character for Robotech RPG Tactics. I really like the Geraro character, but I can't help but feel that the Gravity Mine ability is a bit too good for his cost. Perhaps limiting the gravity field for only one deploy per game would limit how overpowered it is. As it is, you can totally lock down the convoy escort mission as the Cumbersome Convoy Vehicle is debilitated by the rough terrain. Jack Archer seems perfectly fine, although couldn't the Dead Eye Shot ability be shortened by just giving the ability to his gunpod. (As doesn't the mecha have to remain stationary, anyhow to gain the benefit of accurate?) I think your Khyron looks just fine. I have always thought that the "Leadership" skill is a little uncharacteristic when it comes to him. Perhaps adding a rule called vainglorious or something like that that gives you command tokens just the same, but the can ONLY be spent on Khyron himself. That suits his personality much more!

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I thought about limiting Geraro's ability to once per game, but honestly his ability is easy to defend and in most instances he doesn't last long in games. As for the mission you described, I could see that. However, test him out. In the games he's been in he's had maybe one turn of impact in the game before he's been destroyed. I haven't tried him in the convoy mission.
I have Jacks dead eye shot ability work with all weapons as it gives him good alpha strike ability. But when the missiles run out...his effectiveness is diminished. He then has to rely on his skills with a gun pod.
With khyron, I chose to purposely not use his special rules from his original card. I wanted to differenciate the two so there was a difference.
Try them out in games. I'm open to changing things with more play testing.

On your card for Jack, you specifically mention the gunpod. I was just suggesting a text abridgement. No biggie if you'd rather keep the wording how you have it. But, the way you worded it, it only applies to his gunpod... For Khyron, I wasn't challenging your card at all. It looks fine. I was merely addressing what I feel is a disconnect with the character Khyron and what they already did with him. To be honest, I don't even recall what his ability is specifically. I just don't think he's a very good leader. I'll have to play them out sometime, but honestly I haven't even played a single game yet. (I don't have anyone who is interested in playing.) Good Gaming

Ah, yes the final version does only apply to his gun pod. Having it apply to every weapon was from an earlier draft. I was misremembering. Yeah, basically you can spend 2 CPs to make his gun pod pretty good (Overwhelming is a great ability)...and It's even better when he remains stationary (gains Accurate as well). Depending on which mode he's in..his gun pod can really do some work.
The official Khyron card's special ability is to kill Regults to gain CPs. That's fine for the zentraedi faction..as you can regain pods in other units with Life is Cheap. But the malcontents don't get this benefit, thus I decided to make him pack more offensive power...which can act as a last ditch force multiplier for the Malcontents.

I have updated Jack Archer's card. He now has access to all the VF series valkryies and I've also updated the game text of his Dead Eye Shot ability to be more clear.
