I just joined this site, and thought I would share my recent efforts painting a Regult. I have been practicing on my Regults specifically to get back up to speed on Miniature painting, and this is my 20th attempt. It's been years since I painted any miniatures, and the Robotech Kickstarter inspired me to get back into it.

Thanks! I was pretty happy with this one. I'm looking forward to breaking into some of the other models, now that I have some practice under my belt.

I really like how clean it looks! I sincerely hope that I can manage something that looks that nice.

I really like how clean it looks! I sincerely hope that I can manage something that looks that nice. Thanks! It took quite a bit of work to get to this point (this was my 20th) so do not be discouraged if they don't all come out like this. One of the things I did was approach this with the intention of re-learning how to paint. I would paint 3 regults at a time, and each night I would watch youtube videos and read up on the web about techniques covering whatever I happened to be working on at the time. I was brand new to Airbrushes when I started this, but after practice and research, was able to get control of my tools well enough to see it all come together with this one. There is still plenty of bristle brush work on these too, but I used the Airbrush as much as possible, as well as various masking techniques to get it as clean as I could. I also didn't try to do too much with each set of regults, and I didn't worry if the early attempts looked poor. If I learned something, then I was happy. The first few were so bad I pulled them apart and experimented with them further. They'll eventually end up being battle debris The zenethal shading and the wash came out quite well I think, as did the bits of gloss and reflections. I really need to work on the modeling part next, as the painting is at a pretty good standard right now, I think.

I'm working on improving the city themed bases a bit more. It's a fine balance, trying to find the right height for those curbs that pop enough to be noticeable on the table, but don't look crazy out of scale. I think this is in the "feels right" zone.
