hey folks i've now played out 20 RTT battles, ranging from 150-580 point armies. UEDF won 18 of the 20 engagements. I am not a newbie at tabletop gaming here. I really feel that the UEDF simply has too much MDC. Zen units cannot deliver enough damage regardless of their Accurate, Focus Fire, and Close Formation abilities. I want more than anything to LOVE this game. I only see two balancing solutions here: either reduce UEDF damage capacity, or make their units more expensive for your army (less human units). Does anyone feel like me, and want to significantly reduce UEDF damage endurance? I still hope that Wave 2 will give the Zen some more firepower with the Eldare, Fem/Male Armor, but for wave 1 i really think the Zen are just doomed.

Ok reviewed the rules AGAIN and no, i was not making errors leading to so many Zen defeats. Played out a 400 pt battle last week and the Zen nuked the pants off the UEDF in a crushing defeat! This was a matter of a long long long string of bad rolls and bad luck for the Aliens. Glad i broke the cycle but still feel the UEDF have too much MDC. Any thoughts?

Well I think with close formation and shielding the Zentradi are rather robust. A recon squad with the medium missile pod support units is tough. 6 pods focus firing can take down a VT. Those missile pods and Glugs can put the hurt on about anything. The whole game can be swingy with initiative rolls and anti missile roles. Cold dice can kill anything but if their anti-missle dice are a rock'n regardless of which side you are in trouble.
Try this list:
1 Regult Recon Squad + 1 Gluuhaug Support 95
1 Regult Recon Squad + 1 Gluuhaug Support 95
1 Regult Recon Squad + 1 Serahaug Support 110
CP 30 - save for roll with impact and dodge/Gaulg extra attacks
Use the regular pods as shields and regenerate them, use the scout pod's AR suite bonus and close formation and you will be hitting with 2 - 3+ most of the game. My buddy bounces forward with one squad and then after they get shot up, he bounds back and regroups with his fresh pods while he bounds forward with a different squad.
With the fixed blast rules close formation is not such a liability. This list leaves you a ton of CP for rolling with impact. Sacrifice 1 or two Gluuhaugs to rush and kill any artillery they have and you have Zents that are a real handful.
So far as I can see the two sides are pretty balanced post the blast fix.
