I played my first game last night. We did a skirmish type game just to try out the rules, playing long end deployment on an open table. I played a support squadron of two Tomahawks, my friend D played a support squadron of 2 Veritechs, and my friend J played a core squadron of 1 Glaug and 9 (I think) Regults with the rule that let destroyed Regults come back into play under certain circumstances. The game clipped along pretty well, all of us being experienced wargamers. The rules made sense, at what I thought was the right balance between depth and simplicity. The whole thing turned out pretty much how I thought it would, with my Destroids putting out a punishing level of damage before going down, then the Veritechs flanking in to take out the Glaug and secure the victory. I got lucky and only lost one Tomahawk, though I do feel it was luck as I didn't not expect any of them to survive.
After the game we were talking about building and painting our forces, and J had a whole set of Malcontent unit cards. I did not get Malcontent unit cards with my game, but he had a higher pledge level than I did, if that means anything. I feel like I should have received the Malcontent cards, though. Does anybody know anything about this?
