I'd like to ask that if anyone has questions they feel need addressing to post them here and i can make sure those who need to see them do.

(-I posted this in the unofficial errata section also-)
Please officialize ((Faction Specific Individual Unit Points Costs))......or the alternative to that more faction specific squad type options cards, including single unit support cards (single tomahawks, defenders, etc.), single VF-1R upgrades, etc. this is especially true of new main box owners that own nothing else....this gives them more options out of the box (don't want to scare away potential new customers)
Also the official allowance to mix support valkyries with destroid forces, and vice versa...call them special task forces.

I doubt this will ever happen as Destroids and Veritechs never really worked together in the show, which this game seems to be drawn from and hopefully this idea goes the way of the dodo's. Also, they were two separate branches of the Armed Forces aboard the SDF-1, which had very little intermingling on said show.

Just because it never happened on the show doesn't mean it never happened at all, people who don't want to do it aren't forced to, but having an "official" option or say so would be nice...also this is a game not entirely canon, if it can happen in the rpg it should belong in RRT....don't you want greater variety in the units you battle against? or do you want to battle the same handful of opponent types?? the game needs more variety then it has even with waves 2, 3, et all. Even if the support crossing can't or doesn't happen there needs to be more options, force card types, individual points, etc.

To me it only makes sense to allow a VF-1 support card with a destroid core force card. It's called air support

However basing the game on the show pretty much limits the amount of variety that makes sense when talking about Robotech. Hell, this FAQ so far has been mostly common sense questions.

Not compared to something like Battletech, where hugely different numbers of combinations can exist, even warhammer has more combinations, and I'm including all the possible macross saga mecha or units i can think of. Plus basing the game on the show doesn't limit force combinations, perhaps it's just the characters were never a part of such a style of team, ie. just because we don't know miriya's favorite flavor of icecream, or Max's favorite missile loadout doesn't mean they don't exist...

Bolded for emphasis, as the mecha in RRT are currently from that era of mecha that HG has a license to. Everything else is stuck in a quagmire of IP issues. The show tried to mirror US Armed Forces and the divisions between the various branches. Also, think about this example for a second. The army sends in a tank battalion to go claim a piece of property, and the air force sends in a flight of aircraft to support said tanks. Would the army's tanks be able to command the air force flight? No, because of the division of command between branches. Thus I'm okay with not being able to add Veritechs to my Destroid squadrons and you should be as well.

That still doesn't change the fact there are fewer mecha then other IP's, less mecha = less selection of units. So I aim to remedy that by suggesting to the powers that be, that a wider range of squad types be allowed, to allow customizablility and variety. BTW I'm talking about the robotech macross saga, not macross, so yeah no quagmires there. But now you're speculating the nature and extent of the robotech army branches, the UEDF/RDF represents it doesn't mean a 1:1 copy afterall we don't have 12 meter robots walking around currently do we? they also have advanced sensors so it's not a far shot to say they couldn't better coordinate attacks so a mixed team is probable...modern day real earth may or may not be equal to robotech earth...but this is MY opinion and I'm stating it here for someone working on the FAQ to see not be shot down by another fan. What I propose doesn't break canon it merely adds to it by way of belief, basing it on concurrent military hierarchy is just as believable as assuming units could work together as a joint task force both are conjecture.

So you just want what you want regardless of any other reason or fact. Duly noted.

Pretty well exactly like you......there is no reasoning or fact for what you say other then "I base everything on real world application applied to sci-fi anime" that's just as credible as me saying "It would be fun to have valkyries be part of a same group as destroids"....cause in the end to me fun doesn't equal more restrictions...and casual joe gamer who may not care about branches may just want two types of robots to join each other to fight the zentreadi

Let's keep things simple for now. Let's keep the FAQ for clearing up what's in the rules and not adding to them.
If you want to add support units like you said, go for it. They're your toys. We're allowed to play this game any way we want. Just, you know, let the other guy know what you're doing up front. You're allowed to add units if you want. Just be fair. If you make uber units so you can win, no one's going to want to play with you. I've got a bunch of helicopters that have been sitting in a box. You know they're coming to the party. They'll probably suck, and die like hogs, but they'll look cool. Can I use them in a tournament? Nope. Not a big deal. Plenty of other stuff to use.
I don't personally think it' necessary to add Valkyries to a Destroid unit. There's no unit coherency in this game, so you can break off a pair of Valkyries from their squad to bring close support to the Destroids. It actually works better as they can clear covering mecha for each other.

It's not about min/maxing and creating uber units either it's about "some" variety without spending a crap load on minis with some official backing. You want more people to support the game right? You want more start ups to look at the game and think that the main box alone doesn't suck?? Sometimes you have to break a little from canon to aid the masses into buying your product, ultimately it won't stop diehards from sticking to their "belief's" and it won't stop expansionists like myself from creating illegitimate robotech content. All I'm asking for is a little middle ground on officiality in regards to force creation, variety, and customization without breaking the bank....

Force Card Ideas:
U.E.D.F:
General Purpose Squad:
1 Spartan, 1 Defender, 1 Phalanx, 1 Tomahawk
Air & Ground Assault Squad:
2 Tomahawks, 1 Defender, 1 Phalanx
many more types that could be force cards from the get go..
Support Card Ideas:
-Change 1 VF-1 A or J to a VF-1R
-Add 1 Destroid(insert name here) to a squad
-Add 3 Battlepods to a squad
-Dedicated air support and scout (add 1 VF-1A or J to a destroid force)
-Dedicated ground support (add 1 Destroid(insert name here) to a valkyrie squad)
-Add 1 VF-1J special card
etc. etc.

You can do that. You don't need any official sanction. They're YOUR models.
Maybe the 'advanced rules' mentioned around here somewhere will include some sort of official system to mix units how you want. Maybe a future supplement will list lots of mixed units for the Malcontents, but that's somewhere down the road. Right now we have an FAQ. Leave that document to answer the eponymous frequent questions and clear up the unclear wording of some of the rules.
Leave expanded rules out of the official equation for the moment, and if you want to do those things, do them. Have fun. Don't even bother waiting for PB to tell you you can. And there're plenty of models in the box. No one is going to be turned off to the game because they can't mix Valkyries and Destroids.
Be patient. We've waited decades for this game. It's only just come out. Lot's of people haven't even gotten theirs yet. Give it time.

The FAQ looks good. Mostly common sense stuff. They cleared up victory points and made a few rulings regarding characters and life is cheap. It was good to see clarifications on cover, and the only thing that looks to be any real change is Breetai's damage spreading in hand to hand. I'm fine with that. So far I'm happy. Edit: Willf, all that stuff should probably go in the house rules section of the board.

Actually I was told by Jaymz that this was the place to come to make suggestions for errata, questions, comments, I feel this belongs in errata, there are few people who talk to palladium directly who agree with me on this...what's pissing me off is that nobody is showing up here to back me...ah well "f3ck It" then I guess we'll see the same configured destroid squads and valkyrie squads going toe to toe with the zents...until the game dies out

I sent a large set of fan made cards to PB so they know some of the things that are missing already. It's up to them to getting around and acting.
