Hey all, First time to post here and thought I'd share my very slow Phalanx build. I've wanted to do this mod for some time and finally cleared some space on my assembly table to start. The basic premise is simple. As seen in this blog I found in the GHQ forums (http://6mm.wargaming.info/page505.shtml), I figured we could convert our missile carriers from static, preparing to fire mode, to full on missile launch we all love from the shows. To start, here is a photo of the group in general. I'm only converting two of them with one firing one pod while the other fires everything. Here is the pod with the missiles shorn off and pilot holes drilled. Here's both sets with the guide wires cut and ready.

Hey all, Sorry for the long delay but work kept interfering with my fun time. Right now I'm at the start of a two week, glorious, staycation. That means I hope to actually make progress on this project and a couple dozen others on the table right now. Last week I finally got the wires installed and the foliage attached. Yesterday's big achievement was primer. That was before I got distracted. I'm hoping over the next few days to get the painting done and find my decals. The plan is to finish this week while working on my Valkyries in fighter mode. So without further ado, some pics. Here it is with the wires in place and before I glued on the foliage: Right after priming the beast. A couple of Valk's in the background obviously trying to photobomb him. For those interested, the missiles themselves are 1.3mm (#2) crimp tube beads. I got them at Michaels pretty cheaply. I just super glued them onto the ends of the wire and sealed the open end with putty.

Delay on the project. I finished painting and took it outside to seal it up since the weather is about to turn ugly and stop that kind of thing for a while. Sadly, while outside, a gust of wind knocked the mini over onto the concrete and busted off the legs, snapped off a hatch cover, broke one antenna and scarred the other heavily and bent all the missile contrails. Repairs have begun but not sure when it'll get posted at this point.

Crap! I really hate it when that happens! Eventually mother nature throws a monkey wrench into one of our hobby projects. Hope it goes back together without too much trouble!

Well, it's been a week of trying to get it all back together. For whatever reason it didn't want to cooperate. The glue just didn't want to hold. There are numerous problems with the paint job too. Trying to fix the main body, I've pretty well screwed that up and think it'll need a full on repaint. And I've not gotten all the damaged areas repainted or touched up either. It was pretty well shattered and scarred by it's fall and while much has been done I think I'll keep her in the repair bay for a bit longer and keep working. Anyway, here's the photos of the model: propped up front shot (notice the damage about the broken off hatch cover) side view to focus on the contrails (which my amazing photo skills have cut off, hence why I don't take photos professionally:D)

Doesn't look that bad. You could just go ahead and make it a "damaged" unit in case you can't fix it up. I took my Zentraedi pods out the other day to take pictures of them at a playground. When I had some lined up on a climbing rock, a little breeze picked up. It was strong enough to blow one off the rock to where it landed gun barrel first. It hit hard enough to pop it off. Luckily all I needed to do was glue it back on when I got home. You can see the pics in my Zentraedi thread here.
