Hi, all.
A question based on seeing some of the discussions here - how are people handling the VT ordnance upgrades?
We had been playing it that the medium range missiles are standard issue, and you can add one upgrade without replacing them (IE: MRM + MLOPS), but if you wanted to buy another upgrade, that replaces the MRM (ie: MLOPS + Gravity bombs)
Does that jive with how people have been playing it, or am I off base?

The rules are that the upgrades entirely replace the MRMs. People build models with mixed weapons because they look cool and you can use it to tell squads apart, but you;re only supposed to have one type of missile as far as the rules are concerned.

Build them however you want. There isn't a strict WYSIWYG rule and even if there was you can ignore it. Just remember what your unit is armed with. Some people are even making little counters to slide under the models and I suppose magnetizing is possible as well, though I haven't even touched my UEDF models yet, so am not totally sure on that point.
Having said all of that, if - and this is a HUGE if, competitive play RRT tournaments ever come about there may be more strict WYSIWYG rules for those. However in most friendly games it should never matter. Just remember there is only one weapon system allowed, no matter what you have glued to your model.

For the record I build mine with mixed missiles for the reasons I mentioned. But in the game they only have whatever type of missile I actually paid points for, not both.

I had the same initial question... but saw in the rules the upgrade replacement. I have mostly built MLOPS MRM and MLOPS Gravity Bomb models. nothing on the guardians....(yet)

Use magnets and place a missile marker on the center front of the base to show what the fighter has regardless of how the fighter actually looks. That way you cannot be accused of cheating.
