So looking at what will constitute a squadron is looking like the best combinations will look like this:
-Any destroid squadron with 1 support upgrade (6 mecha)
- Any veritech squadron (12 mecha)
- Regult attack squadron (10 mecha)
- Regult recon squadron (8 mecha)
- Regult artillery squadron (6 mecha)
I added the support upgrade to the destroid squadron because at it's base it's significantly smaller than all other squadrons. Each faction has one choice with 6 mecha which is going to be about as fair as it gets. I'm OK with adding 1 support option to any squadron if you choose beyond the requirements.
Voting will be based on what you like. Things like detail and creativity should be taken into account but otherwise choose as you will. No limit other than time on what kind of paint job, you can go custom, canon, whatever. There's only one category for voting, 'My Favorite'.
The contests official start date is Friday December 26th the final day for entry will be Sunday, January 25th. You can enter at any time however atleast one picture of unpainted minis must be posted to this thread or sent to me at robofan5@gmail.com, title should say "robotech painting contest".
Feel free to post work in progress pictures here but I'll need you to email your final entry pictures by Sunday January 26th and I will post those up Monday the 27th anonymously. The winner will be announced Friday, January 30th.

Sqir66, that's the idea! I'm way behind where I want to be, figured this might help.
Just bought a box of destroids for this, going to start converting poses tomorrow and hopefully I can start painting this coming weekend!

Got mine started Christmas Eve. Went with a UEDF Armored Squadron with Command Upgrade and a Spartan Squad upgrade for Close in Support. Two of my Tomahawks were already assembled so I need to assemble 2 more Tomahawks and 2 Spartans and then start painting!  |

 Here's a shot of my contest unit! I have 4 unbuilt destroids as of yet but I can build at work and can probably get them all done in a night though I want to customize them so may take a couple. I'm preparing to prime and begin painting my 4 already built destroids now Between tonight and next week should be able to get the first four done and finish the last 2 for the unit (though I'll be painting the four for a total of eight) probably in about two weeks! I'll post some WIP at the end of this evening. |

 Quick WIP so far. A lot of drying time at this stage so I didn't get all that far, but I'd still say it's about 60%. I went with Privateer Press Battledress green for my base, washed with agrax brown shade and then drybrush up. Finally I added a little bit of highlighting around strategic lines on each mech. The picture doesn't really show it but I'm not too worried about it at this stage. Next I plan to paint missile bay doors, probably a reddish brown, then I'm going to add identifier stripes - the Tomahawk in the action pose is my overall Force Commander on the ground so I need to pick him out. I need to choose an XO for him but haven't decided which mech to make it yet. After that a little bit of detail here and there, decals and I should be done! |

I got my Reckless pledge back in november and I have managed to get 6 battle pods painted so far. Working slowly to get to that first intro scenario in the book. But while I'm here I may as well post some of my work. In addition to that first batch I just finished my portion of a challenge that I made to some of my friends. It was a "Baby Painting Challenge". One of the guys in our group is having a baby (just born on the first) and so I had challenged everyone to paint at least 1 model to gift the new gamer. Didn't matter the game but it was to help get people painting. I painted 2 models, a battloid and a battle pod that got shot in the face and is toppling over with the back of the pod blown out. My intent was to join with the battlepods I had already started since i had already planned on making that one of the qualifying squadrons. . And I had just finished other stuff and wanted to share. Thanks for making me feel welcome, and reminding me why I don't like forums.

grabula, would this pic count for my unpainted models? I don't usually build stuff and then paint it, I sort of paint and build at the same time.  Currently working on the pic below. managed the majority of that 2 nights ago. had to work last night, and work this weekend so won't be doing anymore til monday night.  |
