So with the holiday season close to wrapping up I need some motivation to get back to hobbying robotech. I still have a lot to get done!
Anyone interested in a friendly paint a squadron type contest? I was thinking maybe 2 to 3 weeks hey a full squadron painted then hold a vote on the most favorite.

We'll have to figure out what size a unit is relatively speaking. Other than that I don't want to set rules beyond the time limit. If we get more than 6 or 7 people at the end I'll pony up for a unit box of the winners choice.

I'd do it in tiers:
Canon paint Custom scheme Custom build and paint
Canon paint would get say.... A single wave one unit of their choice Custom scheme would get a wave one add on of their choice Custom build and scheme would get the wave one replacement for parts used and a starter box
I'd also say previously painted and built units do not count towards submission, and rules are images of progression are required.

This is definitely a fresh paint job contest. Entries send in pics of thier plastic/primed minis and ideally send wip over the month though it won't be required.
Not sure I want to have categories, especially if I'm going to provide a prize for a winner, I'm not poor but I'm not rich lol. I think determining which units count based primarily on model count abs then letting people have at it should be fine. If it's a success we can look at more detailed contests in the future. ..or hold your own!

So looking at what will constitute a squadron is looking like the best combinations will look like this:
-Any destroid squadron with 1 support upgrade (6 mecha)
- Any veritech squadron (12 mecha)
- Regult attack squadron (10 mecha)
- Regult recon squadron (8 mecha)
- Regult artillery squadron (6 mecha)
I added the support upgrade to the destroid squadron because at it's base is significantly smaller than all other squadrons. Each faction has one choice with 6 mecha which is going to be about as fair as it gets. I'm OK with adding 1 support option to any squadron if you choose beyond the requirements.
Voting will be based on what you like. Things like detail and creativity should be taken into account but otherwise choose as you will. No limit other than time on what kind of paint job, you can go custom, canon, whatever. There's only one category for voting, 'My Favorite'.

I think this sounds awesome! With my graduate school out for winter break, I might be able to get a unit in! I think I'll shoot for a veritech squadron. Good luck to everyone who is participating! p.s. I am unconcerned about any sort of prize, for me the finished squadron will be reward enough!

Obviously I'm not eligible for prize support lol so it's all motivational for me.
I'll start a new thread and see if we can get it stickied for the month.

Nice!
I really like, at least this time, to just leave it open. Maybe if we get a good turn out we can look for some type of sponsor and see about getting prize support for the next time.
I just got a whole mess of UEDF stuff too. This will give me a reason to get it all assembled and painted!
