Sir,
Here's the information on yesterday's dust up.
At 1330 hours EST, recon pickets detected an anomalous radar contact on the outskirts of Macross City. VVF-147 was launched as the alert squadron to conduct a search of the area and report any hostile contact.
At 1415, the lead element consisting of LT Taylor and LT Williams made contact with a group of four enemy battlepods near the 4300 block of Gloval Ave. They went to mode "G" to maneuver into the buildings and engage, while I and LT Lawson stayed in mode "F" and adjusted course to intercept.
Our element was quickly engaged by another force of 'pods, including one of the big officer types. We immediately launched missiles to intercept, and destroyed three of the standard units, taking minor return fire.
LT Taylor's element reported making contact with their targets, including a new type of unit we had not previously encountered (Gun camera footage attached) - this unit appeared to carry no direct weaponry, but made use of several highly advanced EW capabilities, including calling down precision fire from a number of the battlepods which supported it. LT. Taylor's bird was badly damaged, but the return fire from his element was able to destroy the three pods that appeared to be protecting the EW unit. (We believe this means it was being piloted by an officer, as the enemy has shown similar behavior when protecting an Officer pod in the past.)
My element went into mode "G" to engage the remaining battlepods, Officer, and recovery unit, while Lt Taylor's squad attempted to close in Mode B. The EW unit once again called down precision fire from a group of reinforcements that appeared to assist it, and LT Taylor was forced to punch out. (His chute was tracked and recovered by C-SAR - came down on a parking garage. He'll be on sick call for a few days with a twisted ankle.) Williams was able to get a few back for the home team, though, by destroying the EW unit, and moved to cover the area Lt. Taylor went down in.
The enemy units engaging my element closed to hand to hand range, doing moderate damage to Lawson's Valkyrie, and we shifted to Mode B to demonstrate our intent. After a concerted effort in hand to hand, we disabled the Officer Pod thanks to a field expedient melee weapon. (That means I beat it to death with my GU-11. Tech section is a little mad at me for that, but I think the dents will buff out.) We made relatively short work of the remaining Battlepods who had closed to engage, and Lt. Williams eliminated the recovery unit and final battlepod stragglers with some precision missile fire.
After determining the area was secure and Lt. Taylor's recovery underway, we returned to base for repair and refit. Gun camera and sensor data was turned in to intel section to evaluate, and our damaged craft should be ready to sortie again within 24 hours.

Very enjoyable work! Well written! BGMM love that you clubbed a Glaug with your GU-11 that just rocks. I've only gotten a body block or punch in so far. HEY! Speaking of which, anybody get into a crowded hand to hand brawl yet? Seems like a great scenario for a big gang rumble- you could body block enemies into your buddies and bounce them around like basketballs. And of course Sparans are nasty brawlers (anyone think that they are a LOT of badass for just 10 pts each?) Gonna try it.
