Personally I'd prefer it to be a command point expenditure option. Why is it automatically assumed to be using afterburner just because its in fighter mode? Afterburner is misnamed...it's just to represent fast flying ships. Fast Mover of Fighter would have been a better name. So I'd agree IF you also make all units with Afterburner move 1.5 times as much normally.

well maybe tie the "afterburner" into its ability to boos...perhaps triple if after burner us used over the normal double

well maybe tie the "afterburner" into its ability to boos...perhaps triple if after burner us used over the normal double The issue is you will never stay on board if you did something like this. The biggest failure of the flight mechanics is the inability to fly off board and return. A simple one turn penalty is all you need. A unit flys off board, it does nothing the following turn, then it can be brought back on from the same table edge it left as a reserve/reinforcement on the third turn.

Agreed, I'm also completely against the fly off the table and die idea.

I don't know why the rule is called "afterburner", but I think the general idea is that it applies to traditional-style aircraft that can't stop moving without falling out of the sky (or, for that matter, slow down all that quickly as they don't have much in the way of thrusters pointing forwards etc), rather than something like a Guardian which can hover or even move backwards. I guess they just wanted to split it (for some reason) from the other rule for those aircraft ("fast mover" I think it's called?). Personally it makes sense to me and adds to the movement complexity that I think is a big part of why transforming veritechs make sense in-game.

Not having played, I can't be sure. But it seems like you would very rarely, if ever, spend CP on making your airplane-mode veritechs go any further. Which seems to be a good thing, since this allows you to spend them on other actions.

In the last game I played, I used CP to boost my speed while in jet mode. It let me get across most of the board quickly, which was what I needed. I don't have any problem with jets being restricted from flying off the board. A lot of mini games treat the edge of the board as the end of the world. Go over and you fall off the end. From a cartoon perspective I figure you've just flown offscreen. You may be able to come back on board but it'll be after all the good stuff happens, and the game is over.

I cannot stress this enough..and don't know if this was brought up here please officialize ((Faction Specific Individual Unit Points Costs))......or the alternative to that more faction specific squad type options cards, including single unit support cards (single tomahawks, defenders, etc.), single VF-1R upgrades, etc. this is especially true of new main box owners that own nothing else....this gives them more options out of the box (don't want to scare away potential new customers)
Also the official allowance to mix support valkyries with destroid forces, and vice versa...call them special task forces.
